Kate Bolz for Congress

From the time the borders of Nebraska’s 1st Congressional District were drawn in 1883, more than 20 men have served this region in the House of Representatives.

Two in a row were named William. Four were named John (nearly 20%). And by the year 2020, Congressman Jeff Fortenberry had served for 16 years straight

In the centennial year of women’s suffrage, state senator Kate Bolz interrupted this stale cycle of male leadership to offer eastern Nebraska voters a bold, articulate second option.

About the Candidate

A proud sixth-generation Nebraskan, Kate Bolz grew up on her family’s farm near Palmyra. She represented south central Lincoln in Nebraska’s Unicameral from 2013 to 2020.

In the Legislature, Kate was known for bipartisan consensus-building on the Appropriations Committee, which builds the state budget, as well as using her background in social work to effect change for Nebraska children and families.

Website

The Team Bolz website was a powerful and efficient digital command center for informing voters, collecting donations, disseminating news and building grassroots support. Its clean design ensured seamless accessibility with plenty of room to grow along with the campaign.

Including multimedia materials from video ads to news releases to shareable social graphics, the Kate Bolz for Congress website was perfect for housing both evergreen and time-sensitive content.

As Election Day drew nearer, we shifted our focus from sharing basic platform information with voters to activating volunteers. We built out the Team Bolz Action Center to help citizens get involved and get out the vote. The action center allowed activists to sign up for volunteer opportunities, recruit their friends and share predesigned graphics on their personal social channels.

Graphic Design

Crafting the Kate Bolz for Congress logo, our team broke the mold of conventional political design — embracing this campaign’s fresh, contemporary personality. Her logo’s chic, eye-catching aesthetic was matched in the branding used in digital graphics, yard signs, buttons and printed material throughout the campaign.

We even adapted Kate’s versatile logo to celebrate events such as Pride month — while maintaining her strong brand identity.

Connecting Virtually — Not an Oxymoron

In a year defined by social distancing and the coronavirus, it was crucial for us to deliver Kate’s message to voters while limiting physical interaction.

Our team wasted no time creating a vibrant online presence. We used this space to assist Team Bolz in producing several online streamed events, such as virtual happy hours, town halls and more.

We even coordinated safe, socially distanced tailgate events during Husker football season.

Groundbreaking Digital Fundraising

Doubling down on grassroots campaign efforts, our digital content team engineered a shrewd, effective digital fundraising strategy that helped Team Bolz raise over $1.2 million — a record-breaking total in Nebraska’s 1st Congressional District!

In fact, we raised over $400,000 through email fundraising alone — making Kate Bolz the district’s most competitive challenger in 14 years.

Targeted Digital Ads

With knocking on doors no longer an option during the last critical months of this race, the importance of digital ads surged.

From Snapchat to Facebook to Google, we painted the internet with Kate’s people-powered message. Her display ads also appeared throughout every news website in Nebraska, and Kate Bolz promotional videos aired as YouTube pre-roll and ads across other online video streaming services.

Targeted digital advertising was key to bulking up the Team Bolz fundraising war chest and turning out key voters in a district that had remained staunchly Republican since the 1960s.

Our team proudly works with candidates from any point on the political spectrum. It was an incredible privilege to partner with Kate Bolz in 2020. Together, we overcame the obstacles of a pandemic to communicate a message of justice, equality and people power in a congressional district many of us call home.
